The humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip is worsening and the need for local aid is increasing. That is why the European Commission is stepping up its support. It provides a further 68 million euros in humanitarian aid.
It is to be made available through partner organizations working in the Gaza Strip and across the region. These include food aid, health, water and sanitation, and accommodation support.
With this support, the EU's humanitarian aid for Palestinians in need in the Gaza Strip and across the region amounts to 193 million euros in 2024.
The EU humanitarian airlift to support people in the Gaza Strip continues to transport essential goods. More emergency supplies are being delivered by plane these days, and two more flights are planned for the first week of May. The goods are provided by humanitarian partners and EU member states.
Since October 2023, 48 EU humanitarian airlift flights have brought more than 2,000 tons of relief supplies to the region so far.
The EU financed two convoys that transported over 130 tons of shelter, health, water and sanitation. These goods were donated by Ireland and humanitarian partners. These goods sent from Dubai are transported via Jordan to Gaza in coordination with the Global Logistics Cluster.
The Commission is constantly monitoring the situation and is ready to provide further assistance as needed. The EU is also examining all available ways and means of delivering relief supplies.
Transport by land remains the most effective and efficient way to further increase humanitarian aid for people in the Gaza Strip.
